Be aware of false prophets, teachers, and leaders!
In today’s day and age there are those people, who in places of authority or influence be it as a self-proclaimed prophet, a teacher, or a leader, use their positions to guide people down a path which can only lead to destruction. And why do I make such a claim? Look around at the many evangelists/modern day prophets, who preach a Gospel of prosperity and success. They claim that if you are a faithful follower of Christ you will delight in a life filled with success and prosperity in abundance. A number of these shady individuals seem to think they have a handle on what God’s plan is for when and how the end times will come. As if they have something more to offer to mankind than what Holy Scripture provides us.
Then there are the false teachers, who have taken God’s Word and twisted it to fit the personal or political agenda they are promoting. Spiritual leaders promoting homosexuality, same sex marriages, transgenderism, alternate gender identity inclusion, abortion, and other immoral actions as acceptable activities before an all-loving, caring, and compassionate God is wrong in every sense of the Word (God’s Word)!
Leaders, whether spiritual or governmental, who believe they are to be the ones receiving your honor, praise, and elegance above all else are living a life of pride, conceit, and dishonor to the Lord. The attitudes of such people in leadership have permeated our society and are literally setting us up for destruction as citizens and members of the Kingdom of God. To God alone be all glory, honor, and praise and all else is considered coarse idolatry.
God’s Word addresses this concern in 2 Peter 2:1-3a: “But there were also false prophets among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you. They will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the sovereign Lord who bought them—bringing swift destruction on themselves. Many will follow their depraved conduct and will bring the way of truth into disrepute. In their greed these teachers will exploit you with fabricated stories.”
Dear saints, you and I must be on guard against these mis-leading and blaspheming manipulators of God’s Word. We need to be like the Bereans and test all teachings and ideals against Holy Scripture. And when such actions are found to be falsely portrayed, then call them out for what they truly are. And let us be confident that the Lord will deal with such contemptuous things accordingly and justice will be served on those who mock Him. “Their condemnation has long been hanging over them, and their destruction is not asleep.” 2 Peter 2:3b Pastor McCarty
