Believing by Faith not by a Fable!
The other night I watched a documentary on a Christian station that was talking about the two theories of the beginning of the universe. Of course, the one was the creation theory, and the belief God is the Creator and designer of all that exists. And then there is the Big Bang theory which is the idea that the universe came into existence at a certain point in time (thus the Big Bang) roughly 15 to 20 billion years ago. In the last 25 years this theory has moved to the forefront of cosmology. It was interesting to see how the creation theory, or belief in God as Creator, was able to dispel the other scientific theory in so many, many ways.
With that being the case man still seems to have a grand desire to be able to explain the unexplainable in a way that is logical and can make sense to us humans. In fact, the human mind is only capable of a limited amount of understanding to begin with, yet this is not the way the sinful heart of mankind sees it. This has been mankind’s problem since the Garden of Eden. Adam and Eve wanted to have the mind and knowledge of God and so they ate of the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. And the battle of man to prove themselves as the knowledge holders and truthtellers, and God as a fable, has waged on!
From the beginning, and even before the beginning of the universe as we know it, God has been in complete control of all that has ever taken place. There is no other option, theory, or explanation which can override who God Almighty is and what He has done for humanity and all that there is in existence. God has accomplished what the Big Bang, man, or any other believed action or entity ever could! He created all things that exist, and He sustains them; Jesus brought salvation into a world where there was no other possibility of hope; the Holy Spirit changes hearts and lives as no power on earth could do. This is not a fable but a fact that is understood by faith.
God’s word tells us who He is and what He has done in creating, redeeming, and sustaining mankind. It is the truth of truths which can not be refuted. The writer of Proverbs 30 tells it like this: “Every word of God proves true; He is a shield to those who take refuge in Him. Do not add to His words, lest He rebuke you and you be found a liar. Remove from me falsehood and lying, give me neither poverty or riches, feed me with the food that is needful for me, lest I be full and deny you and say, ‘Who is the Lord”?
The more knowledge man believes he has, and the more he feeds himself on the food of self- glorification, the greater level of denial he has towards the reality of God. This is an attitude which will only lead to self-destruction and eternal condemnation. God is God and there is no other like Him. To believe in anything else dear saints is truly placing your life and everlasting destiny in nothing but FABLES! Pastor McCarty
