Death from one man, Life from another!
The Scriptures tell us in Romans 5:12 that sin came into the world through one man, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men because all sinned. The story of Adam and Eve and their fall in the Garden of Eden is the precursor to this statement made by the Apostle Paul to the Romans. Man’s disobedience to the command of God brought about sin and thus death followed. For the wages of sin is death Paul reminds us in Romans 6:23. This is a reality and something which you and I have to deal with as sinful human beings. By the actions of our first parent/parents, we have been born into a sinful nature. This is our ultimate dilemma in life and one we cannot do anything about. In truth, it is a rather hopeless situation to say the least!
But thanks be to God we have a way out of this unbelievable predicament. God, out of His great love for us, sent Jesus to rescue us from our impending eternal destruction. For if many died through one man’s trespass, much more have the grace of God and the free gift by the grace of that one man, Jesus Christ abounded for many.” Romans 5:15 This free gift won for us by Christ has nullified condemnation and brought forth justification. “For, if because of one man’s trespass, death reigned through that one man, much more will those who receive the abundance of grace and the free gift of righteousness reign in life through the one man, Jesus Christ.” Romans 5:17
What we could not do (save ourselves), God did on our behalf. “For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not of your own doing; it is a gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.”
To God be the glory, great things He hath done, So loved He the world that He gave us His Son, Who yielded His life our redemption to win, And opened the life-gate that all may go in.
Oh, perfect redemption, the purchase of blood, To every believer the promise of God; The vilest offender who truly believes, That moment from Jesus a pardon receives.
