David, king of Israel, knew where to go to when he needed strength of heart and mind. He knew how to draw on his faith in the Lord God Almighty, to assist him as He battled against his adversaries and the many difficulties he faced during his life. In Psalm 138, this man after God’s own heart acknowledges the greatness of the Lord and the blessings he has received from His loving hand.
“I give you thanks, O LORD, with my whole heart; before the gods I sing your praise; I bow down toward your holy temple and give thanks to your name for your steadfast love and your faithfulness, for you have exalted above all things your name and your word.
On the day I called, you answered me; my strength of soul you increased. Though I walk in the midst of trouble, you preserve my life; you stretch out your hand against the wrath of my enemies, and your right hand delivers me. The LORD will fulfill his purpose for me; your steadfast love, O LORD, endures forever. Do not forsake the work of your hands”. Ps.138:1-3,

Time and time again I have the opportunity to visit with people, who are going through some difficult situations in their life. In many cases they are at their wits end and do not know where to turn. Now mind you many of these individuals profess to be Christians. Seeing their frustration and despair I have asked them if they have prayed to the Lord about their situation. So often I hear the reply, “No I haven’t, but since I have tried everything else and nothing has worked, I guess it couldn’t hurt.”
Dear friends in Christ, prayer is not a last-ditch effort to secure help in times of despair. The Lord wants to have an ongoing conversation with you and me, and He is patiently waiting for us to reach out to Him in good times and in bad. Seek Him with all your heart because He cares for you. Besides, He already knows what you and I are dealing with, and He is ready, willing, and more than able to step in and help us. I pray you and I are able to give thanks to the Lord because we called on Him and He answered!!!!!!! Pastor McCarty
