Preparing for tomorrow!
As we make our way through this Saturday afternoon is our heart welling up with excitement, as we look forward to once again returning to the house of the Lord for Sabbath Day worship? I hope and pray we are! God truly desires for us, as His people, to set aside the time in our busy lives to be with Him. He calls us to come to Him, so He might fill us up with joyful rest and peace, as we begin a new week.
Going to church should not be something we have to drag ourselves out of the house to do on Sunday mornings. It is designed by the Lord to be our opportunity to show honor and glory to the One who made us, redeemed us, and continues to strengthen us in our walk of faith. We can learn a great lesson from David, a man after God’s own heart, as he writes with pure enjoyment these words in Psalm 95:
“Oh come, let us sing to the LORD; let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation! Let us come into his presence with thanksgiving; let us make a joyful noise to him with songs of praise! For the LORD is a great God, and a great King above all gods. In his hand are the depths of the earth; the heights of the mountains are his also. The sea is his, for he made it, and his hands formed the dry land. Oh come, let us worship and bow down; let us kneel before the LORD, our Maker! For he is our God, and we are the people of his pasture, and the sheep of his hand. Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts! Psalm 95:1-8a
In a world which seems to be moving away from the Lord, we need to be the kind of faithful people who are running to Him, to pour out our hearts in thankfulness and praise, for all He has provided for us in material and spiritual blessings. And above all else, we are to be most thankful for the salvation won for us by our Savior Jesus, as He gave himself over to death on a cross, to bring us into a right relationship with the Father. We, who once were lost and wandering in the darkness of our sins, have been found and are now walking in the light of Christ.
So, see you tomorrow morning, as we come together, in the presence of God, as children of the Light! Pastor McCarty
