What a cost!

What is the most amount of money you have spent for something. Was it in the thousands of dollars, hundreds of thousands of dollars, or possibly in the millions of dollars. In this day and age purchasing a new car, a college degree (tuition and other costs), a home, or even land can be extremely expensive. Generally, a loan has to be taken out over a long period of time to be able to make these types of major purchases and take on the liability. Yet, if we want such items bad enough, we are willing to make the commitment.

Can you or I ever possibly imagine the unbelievable price God paid to purchase us and all mankind from sin, death, and the power of the devil? The price was the very body, blood, and ultimate death of Jesus Christ, God the Father’s only begotten Son. No greater cost has ever been covered; no greater price has ever been paid. And the astonishing part of it all is that this was carried out in pure love for a bunch of sinful and disobedient creatures, people like you and me.

Scripture tells us, “God so loved the world that He gave His only Son.” It also says, “For while we were still weak, at the right time, Christ died for the ungodly.’ But God shows His love for us in that while we were yet sinners Christ died for us.” And in another place in God’s Word we hear, “What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us who can be against us? He who did not spare His own Son but give Him up for us all, how will He not also with Him graciously give us all things? For I am sure neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord”

Dear saints of the Lord, our gracious and loving Lord Almighty cherishes you and me so much He is not willing to give up on us. And as Scripture so clearly displays, He will do anything to keep us as His own dearly loved children. May you and I live in joy because we are loved so deeply and passionately by our great God!
